Solvang and Jalama Beach Ride 3/25/2009

Solvang and Jalama Beach Ride

I had been thinking about taking this ride again for some time and to tell the truth, I’m still thinking about taking this ride again! Dee and I would love to share it with some of our Pashnit friends next time. We started off about 7:30 AM Saturday morning and headed up the 101 toward Santa Barbara under overcast skies and some light rain. After a gas stop in SB we ran on up the 154 and wondered if we picked the right day because there was some thick clouds going up this route . We were rewarded with some clearing so we thought we would celebrate over a hearty breakfast at Cold Spring Tavern.

Mrs. Old Surf Dog had decided this time she was going to sight see and take pictures so we were riding two up.  Here she got a shot of the 154 Hwy Bridge over Stagecoach Rd.

  On Stagecoach Rd.

The flowers were blooming at Bradbury Dam and Lake Cachuma

Our stop in Solvang to see the famed motorcycle museum we have heard so much about. Lots of very, very nice cycles. Here are a couple of shots, but we took about $20.00 more if anyone is interested.

From there we decided to take Santa Rosa Road on over to Hwy 1.

Then we jumped onto Jalama Rd. a most fun road to ride on.

Which took us to Jalama County Beach and campground. This is my very favorite place to camp and surf. Really a laid back spot to relax and enjoy life.  If you’re going to walk the beach I advise that you bring some lighter fluid to remove the naturally occurring beach tar off your feet.

After that we made our way to Ventura where we met up with my Mom and sisters for some conversation and a snack before heading home. We arrived home at 10:00 with another 380 miles on the Road King and big smiles on our faces.
